Evert “Bud” Spencer, 1929-2014

20141109-151524_EvertSpencer025Mr. Evert “Bud” Spencer, 84, of LaPorte, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Breathitt County, KY, to Claude and Lunah (Russell) Spencer.

Evert worked as a roller operator for Rieth-Riley Construction Co. He was a member of Free United Baptist Church in North Judson, IN. He loved his church, liked fishing and flea marketing and enjoyed spending time with his family.

On July 14, 1956, in Knox, IN, he married Tressie (Prater) Spencer, who preceded him in death May 9, 2000.

Evert was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elbert Spencer and Manuel Spencer.

He is survived by his son, Manuel “Bub” (Theresa) Spencer of LaPorte; daughter, Patricia (Lloyd) Cole of LaPorte; one grandson, Bill (Rachele) Spencer; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Ella Spencer; and one brother, Jesse Spencer of Breathitt County, KY.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. A life celebration will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Interment will take place Friday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
