James “Jim” N. Gregory, 75, of LaPorte, died Oct. 27, 2014, at IU Health LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Kennett, MO, to Ernest and Neelie (Rodgers) Gregory.
Jim enjoyed fishing, nature, being outdoors and woodworking. He was considered a professional “tinkerer.” Jim served honorably in the U.S. Army in Thailand.
Surviving are his beloved children, Teresa (John) Servos of Swansea, IL, and Andrea (Dan) Bingheim of Belleville, IL; grandchildren, John James Servos, Justin Michael Servos, Elizabeth Rose Bingheim, Joseph Donald Bingheim, and Jacob Gregory Bingheim; longtime companion, Charmaine Devereaux of LaPorte; sister-in-law, Billie Jean Gregory of Kennett, MO; several nieces and nephews; and Jim’s special love, his cat Indy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lillard and Vernon Gregory; and two sisters, Olean Newberry and Myrtle Gregory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. until the service. Cremation will follow, with burial taking place at a later date.
