Emanuel “Minnow” Wawok, 1928-2014

Mr. Emanuel “Minnow” Wawok, 85, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He is now fishing in the heavens.

He was born Nov. 23, 1928, in LaPorte to Stephan and Rose (Mendzak) Wawok.

Minnow retired from the Budd Co. in 1982 after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the PNA and its Rod and Gun Club, and Saugany Lake Conservation Club. Minnow loved the outdoors, fishing, traveling and camping.

On Jan. 28, 1956, in The Pines, he married Lillian Rusnak Wawok, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Judy Branham and Melodie (Kim) Ackerson; three sons, Larry (Carolyn) Konfirst, Steven (Regina) Wawok and Joseph (Emily) Konfirst; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Stan Wawok, Walter Wawok and Casmir Wawok; and three sisters, Sophie Zook, Irene Wawok and Helen Macher.

Emanuel was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Upon Minnow’s request, there will be no services or viewing. Cremation will take place. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
