Clifford M. Gliva, 69, of LaPorte, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 12, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, to Benjamin and Marie (Reteneller) Gliva.
Clifford was a general foreman for Amtrak in Chicago. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, and was a United States Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
On Sept. 25, 1965, in LaPorte, he married Jessie Greer, who preceded him on Jan. 5, 1999.
His father also preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Juliena Jenkins of LaPorte and Alexandra Schaefer of Valparaiso, IN; two sons, Clifford (Vicky) Gliva Jr. and Mark Gliva, both of LaPorte; five grandchildren; his mother, Marie; two brothers, Richard (Linda) Gliva and Paul (Debbie) Gliva, both of LaPorte; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, April 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow the Mass in St. Joseph Cemetery, LaPorte.
