Kathleen Lorraine Schimmel, 53, of New Carlisle, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Northwest Health – La Porte.
She was born in Michigan City, Ind., on July 13, 1968, to David Cripe and Betty Jean McIntosh.
Kathleen was a landscape architect for many years. She enjoyed landscaping, bargain shopping and being outdoors. She also enjoyed baking Christmas cookies, baking thousands each year. Kathleen loved feeding everyone, including hosting Sunday family dinners. To her children, she was a counselor, hero, their “go to,” and the strongest, bravest woman that they knew. For her partner, Ron, she was his sunshine, his life and his one and only.
Surviving Kathleen are her children, Anastasia Bailey of New Carlisle, Zachary Bailey of North Liberty, Ind., and Benjamin Schimmel of La Porte, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; mother, Betty Jean McIntosh; father, David Cripe, Sr.; 2 sisters; 1 brother; partner, Ron Gerald; hundreds of loved ones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home, with visitation from 3 p.m. until the service.
