Jeffery Paul Lile, 62, of Kingsbury, Ind., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, in his home.
He was born April 21, 1959, in La Porte, Ind., to Virginia N. (Lile) Bates.
Jeff was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed racing, fishing, hunting and spending time with family at cookouts. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley and was part of the pit crew for Lile Racing at the circle track. His sisters lovingly gave him the nickname “Bodine.” He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his mother, Virginia N. Bates of Kingsbury; six sisters, Connie Lile of La Porte, Patty (Bob) Young of LaCrosse, Ind., Lorie Smutzer of La Porte, Paula (Bill) Stowe of La Porte, Darla Bates of La Porte, and LeeAnn (Norman) Daisy of La Porte; one sister-in-law, Karen Lile of La Porte; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his step-father, Byrum Bates; brother, Frank Lile; grandparents, Darl and Elinora Lile; nephew, Garrick Holmquest; and step-grandparents, John and Lucille Bates.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, with Pastor Arnold Smith officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held at the funeral home Monday from 3 p.m. until the service.
