Susan Denzine passed away to her heavenly home on Oct. 19, 2021.
She was born in Missoula, Mont., on March 15, 1949, to Clayton and Virginia Bushong. Susan was raised in Darlington, Ind., and Michigan City, Ind., and was a graduate with honors from Purdue University. She worked for many years as the auditor of La Porte Bank and Trust and as an accountant supervisor in South Bend, Ind.
Susan was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in La Porte; had a lifelong love of people, music (both ’60s and classical), art, Broadway plays and reading; and enjoyed traveling – some of her favorite spots were Mackinac Island, Glacier National Park and Monet’s garden in France. Susan was always hard-working, optimistic and compassionate – finding the best of any situation and encouraging others.
On Sept. 9, 1998, Susan married Matt Denzine, who survives. She is also survived by her son, Michael Schroeder; grandsons, Aaron, Andrew and Austin; and brother, Alan Bushong, his wife Jacinta, and their daughter, Erica Ruchard.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A celebration of life service will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at La Porte First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave., La Porte, Ind. 46350; and Darlington Public Library, P.O. Box 248, Darlington, Ind. 47940.
