Barbara Ann Cook, 75, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 2, 1946, in La Porte to Jess and Wilma (Kroening) Voorhees.
Barbara was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, reading and reinventing old furniture.
On Aug. 15, 1964, in La Porte, she married Jack E. Cook, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Jack (Krista) S. Cook of New Carlisle, Ind., and Gwendolen “Gwen” (Ed) Nieman of Michigan City, Ind.; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas Cook, Alexandra (Josh) Largen and Madilynn Hicks; 6 great-grandchildren, Elena, McKenna, Theresa, Jaiden, Ariana, and Hayley; 4 brothers, Harold Voorhees, Jess Voorhees, Jr., Robert Voorhees, and Carl Voorhees; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, with Chaplain Melissa “Missy” Buche officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow the service at Pinhook Cemetery.
