Christine Katherine Hiller, 77, of La Porte, Ind., passed away peacefully at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at Northwest Health – La Porte.
She was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Herrin, Ill., to John and Tillie (Kumos) Glisson.
Christine attended La Porte Assembly of God, where she participated in Women’s Ministries. She was proud of being a breast cancer survivor. Christine had a green thumb, loved to grow flowers, and knew the leaves of every kind of tree. Christine’s husband and children were the love of her life and she adored cooking for them. Christine will be dearly missed and remembered for her love of family and friends.
On Sept. 15, 1962, in Chicago, she married Richard Earl Hiller, who survives.
Also surviving are her four children, Rick (Stacy) Hiller of Lowell, Ind., John (Therese) Hiller of Morton, Ill., Ambre (Rodney) Thill of Plainfield, Ill., and David Hiller of Hobart, Ind.; siblings, Hazel (Doug) Smith of Orland Park, Ill., Tillie (Joe) Morris of Orland Hills, Ill., and John Glisson of Fort Myer, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, Amber Christakes, Rick Hiller, Melissa (Sean) Matthuis, Adam (Eliza) Hiller, Christina (Dennis) Agae, Stephanie Zwartz, Angela (Craig) Sutter, Johnny (Alyssa) Hiller, Rodney (Melanie) Thill, Johnny (Elizabeth) Thill, Elizabeth Thill, David (Vanessa) Hiller. Jr., Steven (Ashley) Hiller, and Michael Hiller; 25 great-grandchildren; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; and her beloved countless friends and neighbors.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at La Porte Assembly of God with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, and from 10 a.m. until the service Monday at the church. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, following the service.
