Loretta Evelyn Jacobs, 80, of New Carlisle, Ind., passed away peacefully at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, in her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Norton County, W.Va., to Wiley and Nora (Ledford) Greene.
Loretta enjoyed going to garage sales and Goodwill and thrift stores. She also enjoyed meeting new people through bartending and waitressing. She was formerly a waitress for the former Sportsman Bar & Grill, now Kate O’Connor’s Irish Pub, in New Carlisle. Loretta loved spending time with her family, especially at Christmas and during birthday parties. Her favorite was eating birthday cake along with drinking Diet Pepsi. She did many outdoor activities with her family, including fishing, mushroom hunting and going for walks at Spicer Lake Nature Preserve. She enjoyed going to get her hair done. Loretta will truly be missed by the family she deeply loved.
Surviving are her three children, Jerry Lawson of La Porte, Ind., Jimmy Lawson of Elkhart, Ind., and Gary Philipson of New Carlisle; one sister, Imgene Hart of Webster, Fla.; grandchildren, Josh Lawson, Amanda Bixby, Christa (Tristan) Bailey, Kiersten (Manuel) Campos, Katlin (Darius) Kincaid, and Brandon Gall; great-grandchildren, Shylia, Breunna, Alyssa, Makayla, Amelia, Katharine, and Gabriella; and great-great-grandchildren, Angel and Avianna.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Truman Lawson; one daughter, Henrietta Parmley; one son, Truman Lawson, Jr.; two sisters, Patsy Hallmark and Eula Daley; and two grandsons, Sonny Maday and Justin Lawson.
Cremation will take place. A private celebration of her life will be held. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
