Joan Elizabeth Young, 79, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at Rittenhouse Village in Michigan City, Ind.
She was born Feb. 15, 1942, in Hammond, Ind., to John and Helen (Johnson) Larson.
Joan was a housewife and an aerobics instructor at the La Porte, Ind., YMCA. She loved to run and participated in triathlons and mini-marathons. Joan and her husband, Mark, enjoyed riding their bikes to Lake Michigan every week when the season permitted.
On Sept. 26, 1963, in Hammond, she married Mark J. Young, who survives.
Also surviving are her 2 sons, Bill (Michelle) Young of Trail Creek, Ind., and Dan (Carol) Young of La Porte; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.
