Carter Leroy Morse, 23, of Westville, Ind., passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at Franciscan Health, Michigan City, Ind.
He was born Feb. 25, 1998, in La Porte, Ind., to Robert Morse and Levi Jean Johnson.
Carter loved participating in demolition derbies. He enjoyed working on cars and truck driving with his dad, whom he lovingly called “Pops.” Carter also enjoyed watching professional wrestling and wrestling with his father. Carter had a big heart and had a special love for his nieces and nephews. He especially loved his mother and would always tell her how beautiful she was, no matter what.
Surviving are his parents, Levi Johnson of La Porte and Robert Morse of Westville; his girlfriend of three years, Ashley Marshall of Chesterton, Ind.; his son, Masyn Laine of La Porte; grandmother, Eloise Bush of La Porte; aunts, Lisa (Roger) McGinty of Mill Creek, Ind., Sandy (Ron Smeaton) Johnson of La Porte and Connie Brownlee of La Porte; uncle, Raymond (Jessica) Hunsche of La Porte; four siblings, Christopher (Kiana) Ward of New Carlisle, Ind., Sydney Ward of Plymouth, Ind., Alyssa Johnson-Irk of Westville and Collin Johnson of La Porte; niece, Annabella Ward of La Porte; nephew, Kayden Ward of La Porte; biological father, Keith (Stacy) Dreibelbis of La Porte; grandfather, James Lennox; and 10 cousins, Jeremy, Ryan, John, James, Mallorie, Jacob, Lorne, Glenn, Tyler, and Kyle.
Preceding him in death were his great aunt, Betty Fritzen; paternal step-grandfather, Gene Bush; maternal grandfather, Edison Ray Johnson; and maternal grandmother; Donna Lennox.
A funeral celebrating Carter’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating. Visitation and viewing will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
