Irene Dorothy Pataluch, 95, of La Porte, Ind., passed away peacefully at 11:38 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021.
She was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Julia (Kocaj) Koziol.
In 1932, Irene’s family moved from Chicago to La Porte County. She graduated from Rolling Prairie High School. Irene worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for several La Porte businesses. In 1990, she retired from the La Porte Community School Corporation after 17 years of service. Irene enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafts and playing cards.
On Nov. 4, 1950, in St. Joseph Church, La Porte, Irene married Casimer “C.J.” Pataluch. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1997.
Irene is survived by her four children, Christine Pittman of South Bend, Ind., Sandra Pataluch of Hilton Head, S.C., Mark (Kay) Pataluch of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Kathleen Pataluch of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Nick (Jenny) Pittman and Jon Pittman; two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Lola Pataluch; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Genevieve; and one brother, Ted.
A Prayer Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, with Rev. Nate Edquist officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
