Donald H. Deutscher, 92, passed away on July 13, 2021, with his family by his side.
Don was born in Michigan City, Ind., on May 10, 1929, to Elmer and Elsie (Michau) Deutscher. He served the United States Army, from which he was discharged in 1954, then served his family entirely. Don retired in 1994 from Dwyer Products after 40 years of employment.
Don was a member of Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church. He loved “seeing what the neighbors are up to” and creating storage space for his dear Rose, who collects many treasures. He loved tinkering and talking, and will forever be remembered for his gardening and building and fixing anything and everything. He was never without his tape measure and pocket knife.
In October of 1966, he married Rose Marie Glassman, who survives.
He is also survived by daughter, Donna Jean (Steve) Nowak, and granddaughters, Emily (Kevin Upp) and Olivia, all of La Porte. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and a church community for whom he served.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barb Gemberling.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, with Pastor Jay Loucks officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, just blocks from where Don grew up.
