Pamela Jo Kissinger, 62, of Houston, TX, and formerly of La Porte, IN, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, in Mesquite, TX.
She was born Sept. 9, 1958, in La Porte to Claude and Violet Kissinger. She graduated from La Porte High School in 1977. Pamela got her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Ball State University. She later got her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Houston.
While attending LPHS, she wrote the Hi-Lites column for the La Porte Herald-Argus. As a teen she enjoyed attending UMYF at Tracy United Methodist Church. She really enjoyed her summers working with the migrant workers in La Porte County.
Pamela moved to Houston to pursue her interest in social work. She worked for the school district and other county organizations (all in social work) for almost 35 years, for 13 of which she was employed as a social worker for Harris County Protective Services.
Pam is survived by her family and friends, including brothers, Tom Kissinger and Mark (Josie) Kissinger; sisters, Sue Kissinger, Cathy Kissinger, Louise (Don) Forsyth and Betsy Murphy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will have a private graveside service on Aug. 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend a celebration of Pam’s life from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 7, 2021, at Tracy United Methodist Church, just south of Kingsbury at 1702 U.S. 6 & 35, Hamlet, Ind.
