Richard Malcolm “Dick” Frojd, 74, of LaPorte and formerly of Joliet, IL, died Feb. 11, 2014, at home.
He was born in Joliet on April 19, 1939, to Hilding and Viola (Maulm) Frojd.
Richard served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He learned the building trade working with his father, who was a master builder from Sweden. Later in life, Dick was a security guard for Joliet Federal Bank and Helsberg Jewelry. He loved to travel in his motor home, visiting 32 states and acquiring many everlasting friendships. When Dick wasn’t on the road, you would find him on the dance floor. This gentle soul will be missed by many.
On July 20, 1963, he married Sherry R. Presley, who survives.
Also surviving are his beloved children, Jeannene (James) Anderson of Beverly Shores, IN, and Jeffery Frojd of LaPorte; granddaughter, Julia Anderson of Beverly Shores; siblings, Ronald (Barbara) Frojd, Robert (Cynthia) Frojd, Janet Lauth, Donna (James) Blood and Nancy (Frank) Leonard; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
