James Harold Olson, 70, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away peacefully Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Northwest Health, Valparaiso, Ind.
He was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Chicago, Ill., to William and Hattie (Sawicki) Olson.
For many years, Jim worked in Data Processing for a Chicago hospital. In 1980, Jim and his best friend, Richard Peting, opened The General’s Store, where they manufactured restoration parts for GM cars. They also owned Santa’s Shows, which held multiple antique toy shows throughout the years. Jim loved trains and was an enthusiast about all things Disney and going to Disney World as many times as he could. He was also a supporter of the circus, being a member of Circus Fans Association of America and Circus Model Builders.
On Sept. 8, 2007, in Highland, Ind., he married Sharon (Poby) Olson, who survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Jennifer (Shaun) Lakeberg; two granddaughters, Noelle and Catherine; daughter, Leah Olson; brother Kris (Debra) Olson; sister, Dawn (Gerry) Gora; brother, Dean (Connie) Olson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Cremation will take place. There will be no services. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
