Iva Mack, 1936-2021

Iva Marie Mack, 84, of Michigan City, Ind., and formerly of Woodstock, Ill., passed away peacefully at 4:53 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021, in her home.

She was born May 24, 1936, in Marienville, Pa., to Earl and Helen (Ship) Boyer.

Iva was a lifetime witness of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Woodstock, and Union City, Pa. She attended California State Teacher College of Pennsylvania, studying in the Arts, and finished her Arts degree at Edinboro College, Pa. Iva was very artistic, being born with this talent. She enjoyed creating oil paintings and still life and color pencil art. Iva was also educated in marine life. She was a single mother who raised a family of four children. She formerly worked as manager for a pet store. Later in life and prior to her retirement, she worked as a caregiver for the state of Illinois. Iva was loved by everyone and was considered a “Classy Lady.”

In 1958, in Erie County, Pa., she married Denton Mack, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Karl Boyer; one aunt, Mary Barber; and one son, Dennis Mack.

Surviving are her three children, Edward Mack of Michigan City and Janet (Stephen) Simonowicz and Roberta (Michael) Haluska, both of New York; two sisters, Molly Radkoff and Earla Boyer; five grandchildren, Joshua Nelson, LeeAnn (Gabe) Olmstead, Aaron (Andrea) Hepler, Naomi (Mike Salter) Doddy and Michael (Beth) Mack; 20 great-grandchildren; and close friends, Sherry Reinier, Tom Leaveck, Frank Ploss and Susan Loomis.

Cremation will take place. A Zoom celebration of her life will be announced. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
