Jerome “Jerry” Jozwiak, 1942-2021

Jerome “Jerry” George Jozwiak, 78, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at Northwest Health – La Porte.

He was born May 2, 1942, in La Porte, Ind., to Clemeus Phillip and Genevieve Lena (Miller) Jozwiak.

Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1980.  Later, he worked as a carpenter and janitor at New Prairie Schools and Jack Post Corporation for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.  Jerry also enjoyed watching birds and NASCAR racing.

On June 2, 1962, in Rolling Prairie, he married Rose Ella Cooley, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2020.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Marget (Olson) Jozwiak; and granddaughter, Natalie Boughter.

Surviving are his children, Donald (Dorrene) Jozwiak of Rolling Prairie, Theresa (George) Bladecki of Rolling Prairie, Phillip (Carla) Jozwiak of Hudson Lake, Ind., and Lina (Paul VanWanzeele) Jozwiak of New Carlisle, Ind.; grandchildren, Debbie, Mike, Lee, Stephanie, George III (Trey), Natalie, Bobbie, Amanda (Kelly) Webb, Mike, Jerome, Samantha, Phillip Jr., Jessica (Corey) Paulsen, Craig Jr., Nathaniel, Bruce, and Connor; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Oliver, Stacy, Jackie Jr., Alexandria, Elizabeth, Jay, Kalli, Isabella, Johnathan, Brian, Aubreyanna, Kieran, Correy, Sara, Danica, and Isla; sister, Rose Marie (Timm) Jozwiak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In memory of Jerry’s and Rose’s lives, a Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held with interment to follow at St. John Kanty Catholic Cemetery. Rolling Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

Due to the recent Governor’s Order, anyone attending the visitation is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing of six feet. Also, we are limited to 25 people in the building at any given time. We kindly ask for your patience as we oversee these mandated guidelines.
