Edward L. Haverstock, 76, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at his home in La Porte with his wife Angeline by his side.
He was born Jan. 13, 1945, in La Porte, the son of Robert Walter Haverstock and Bonnie Jean (Wolfe) Haverstock.
Ed had many things in his life he enjoyed. As a former basketball player, he played on the Rolling Prairie High School team. He loved watching basketball as well as football and baseball. He enjoyed gardening, camping, horseshoes, bowling, and traveling. He was enlisted in the Air Force, where he was assigned the task of security work. Ed was a business systems analyst for EDS and Hewlett Packard.
Ed is survived by wife, Angeline; son, Scott (Stephanie) Haverstock; step-son, Jeff Olson; step-daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Crissman; brother, Charles (Nancy) Haverstock; two sisters, Bobette (Jeff) Elkins of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Brenda (David) Depoy; two half-sisters, Elizabeth (Doug) Latham and Vicki Weirich; and seven grandchildren, Andy, Hollie, Makayla, Bryce, Matthew, Nicholas, and Emily.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, La Porte, on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A life celebration will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to La Porte Salvation Army, 3240 Monroe St., La Porte, Ind. 46350; or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
