John V. Miller, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at Northwest Health – La Porte.
He was born May 6, 1937, in Westville, Ind., to Margaret (Bohart) Moretti.
John was a La Porte City Police Officer for 23 years. He later served as a community corrections officer for 17 years. He was a member of the FOP and enjoyed sports.
On May 26, 1962, at St. Anthony Church in Fish Lake, Ind., he married Sally Tarpley Miller, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Stacy Miller of North Riverside, Ill., Joseph Miller of La Porte, Sheila Kieszkowski of La Porte and Andrew (Sara) Miller of West Linn, Ore.; 5 grandchildren, Jacob Sellers of Union Mills, Ind., Christian Chavez of Oak Park, Ill., Samuel Chavez of Chicago, Ill., Miles Miller of West Linn and Maxwell Miller of West Linn; and beloved schnauzer, Rudy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Moretti; daughter, Jonann Miller; and son-in-law, John Kieszkowski.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
