Colleen Anne Schnitzer went home to Jesus on Nov. 13, 2020, at age 61.

She was born to John and Anne Kerwin on July 5, 1959. As a child, she loved to fish and play the piano.

Colleen met her husband, David Schnitzer, in Schiller Park, Ill.  They were happily married for 39 years, with five children: Ryan (Anna) Schnitzer, Ashley (Nick) Julian, Allison (Luis) Carrillo, Rebecca (Richard III) Bockhorst and Rachel Schnitzer.  Colleen was “Grammy” to four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Colleen was a dedicated wife and a loving mother.  She raised her children to love the Lord.  Colleen’s favorite pastime was going to the beach.  She loved to bathe in the sun, read a book, and fish.  Colleen found joy in rescuing dogs and raising rat terriers.  She loved puppies and babies more than anything.

Colleen joins John Kerwin Sr. (father), Anne Kerwin (mother), Brian Kerwin (brother), and Kathy Lukasiewicz (sister) in heaven.  She is survived by her husband (David Schnitzer), brother (John Kerwin), her children and grandchildren.

Her family finds hope in God’s word: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”  John 14:3.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, La Porte. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Heavner officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 933 Nursery Rd., La Porte, Ind. 46350; or the La Porte County Small Animal Shelter, 2855 W. Ind. 2, La Porte, Ind. 46350.

Messages of condolence may be posted below on WNLP as well as at www.esslingfuneralhome.com.
