Carolyn Sue Shaw, 95, of La Porte, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at Northwest Hospital – La Porte.
She was born March 17, 1925, in Wabash, Ind., to Thurman and Susan (Mossman) Routt.
Carolyn worked as a medical assistant and office manager for Dr. William Moore, retiring after 20 years. She was a member of 1st Christian Church of La Porte, Delta Kappa Phi Wives, Christian Women’s Club and Four Season Garden Club. She loved gardening and enjoyed watching her game shows on TV and doing crossword puzzles to keep her mind strong. After her husband passed away, she continued the tradition of going to Red Lobster with her granddaughter, Lauren, who, along with her other grandchildren, she loved dearly.
On April 29, 1949, Carolyn married Homer Shaw, who preceded her in death Dec. 15, 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Alan, John and Fred Routt, Barbara Biggs and Marjory Blank.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Kim) Shaw of La Porte; daughter, Penny Huth of New Carlisle, Ind.; grandchildren, Lauren Shaw of La Porte, Briana (Brian) Scanlon of Utah, Grace (Jeff) Cifaldi of La Porte and Joy (Jim) Barbarosa of Valparaiso, Ind.; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, with Pastor Everett Shattuck, 1st Christian Church, officiating. Please wear a mask and social distance when attending this event. Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, La Porte, is handling arrangements.
