Kathrene I. Kusturin, 74, of La Porte, Ind. passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at Northwest Health – La Porte.
She was born Sept. 23, 1946 in Hammond, Ind. to William Brammer and Grace (Fout) Hartman.
Kathrene moved to La Porte from Knox in 1995. She retired from Howmet after 20 years, then worked as the coordinator at Hair Fitness in La Porte. She loved bowling and was in the Thursday night women’s league and the Monday senior league at Casey Lanes. She was an avid reader and games player, did a lot of canning with her husband, and enjoyed camping and hanging by the pool. Kathrene cherished her family, even raising two of her granddaughters for the past 14 years.
Survivors include her husband, William D. Kusturin of La Porte; sons, Timothy Harmon of Florida, Ralph (Pamela) Harmon, Jr. of La Porte, and Joseph (Carlene) Harmon of Nashville, Tenn.; step-son, John Kusturin of Fish Lake, Ind.; step-daughters, Chastity Ashton of N. Judson, Ind. and Deborah Lynn of Mishawaka, Ind.; brother, Donald Brammer of Florida; sister, Diana Golden of Florida; sister-in-law, Carol Brammer of Kentucky; grandchildren Abby, Lexi, Jessica, Adam, Shaun, Rachel, Ryan, Whitney, Kylie, Shannon, and Nikki; 12 great-grandchildren; and two precious babies on the way.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Brammer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where a celebration of Kathrene’s life will follow at 4 p.m. The family would like anyone who wishes to share a memory to write it down and bring it to the service. Attendees are reminded to bring their masks.
Interment of cremated remains will take place at a later date.
Flowers are welcome or the family suggests planting a tree in her honor, which can be done on the funeral home website.
