Iva Lee Thomas, 91, of Rolling Prairie, Ind. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 3, 1929 in Democrat, Ky. to Henry and Celeste (Gibson) Cook.

In 1973, Iva married Albert Thomas, who preceded her in death in 1999.

She lived in many places including Kentucky, Ohio and New York, but spent the last 30 years in this area. Iva was a member of the Soul’s Harbor Church of North Judson, Ind., where she was a Sunday school teacher.  Quilting, sewing and gardening, especially gardening with flowers, were some of her favorite pastimes. Because of her passion for helping others, Iva was a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed visiting nursing homes where she and her group would sing and play instruments, like the spoons, for the residents.  Her family and friends were her joy!

Survivors include her sons, James P. (Joyce) Farlie of Michigan City, Ind., Ronnie L. (Robin) Farlie of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Dexter L. Farlie of Kingsford Heights, Ind.; brothers, Doug (Rose) Cook of Millstone, Ky. and Jesse (Kay) Cook of McRoberts, Ky.; grandchildren, Iva, Jason, Ron, Jeffrey, James, Christopher, Anthony, George, Paula; great-grandchildren, Kasey, Randy, Jessica, Dakota, Joseph, Jason, Julie, Jeffrey, Sara, Austin, Damon, Dayton, and Jonathan; and great-great-grandchildren, Canaan, Rebekah, Owen, Maddie, Liam, Ethan, Natali and Emma.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, George Henry Farlie; granddaughter,  Rebecca; sisters, Laverne Smith and Faye Kincer; and brothers, Roy, Eugene, Ralph and Isaac “Bud” Cook.

Visitation will be at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, followed by a celebration of Iva’s life at 11 a.m. with Pastor Philip Ritter, Tabernacle of Prayer, Newnan, Ga., officiating.  Interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
