Louise Swink, 1946-2020

Louise Swink, 74, of Michigan City, Ind. passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2020 at Aperion Care The Arbors, Michigan City.

She was born June 17, 1946 in Star City, Ark. to Hardy Hicks, Sr. and Susietta (Ward) Hicks.

Louise came to Michigan City at the age of 16 and went to Elston High School; also at 16 she began to sing.

Survivors include her children, James (Karen) Hicks of Saxton, Mo., Kenneth (Carla) Allison of King George, Va. and Charles (Ginger) Swink, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; sisters, Mary Mian of Downers Grove, Ill., Vera (Luster ,Sr.) Lewis of Michigan City, Elvira Hughes of Denver, Colo., Linda (Robert) Treadwell and and Kimmer Arnold, both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; brothers, Hardy (Bobby) Hicks, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Johnny (Diann) Hicks of Illinois, and Arthur Hicks of Michigan City; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two daughters; and brothers, Willie Lee Hicks, Robert Hicks, W.C. Hicks, Sr. and Walter Arnold.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 12 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 3007 Ohio St., Michigan City with Pastor Allen Briggs officiating.
