He was born July 19, 1944 in La Porte, Ind. to George and Betty (Wilhelm) Wilson.
Robert worked at Roll Coater and was a butcher for 20 years. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of American Legion Post 434 in Kingsford Heights, and he loved to hunt, fish, and plant his acre garden.
On Jan. 8, 1966 Robert married Joyce Carol Upp, who survives. Also surviving are son, John Wilson of Amite City, La.; daughter, Juli (Rick) Boisvert of North Judson, Ind.; grandchildren, Corey (Christine) Hill, Todd (Ashley) Hill, Gaston Combs, Phillip (Ashley) Alexander, Courtney Pinks, Nathan Tyler (Lindsay) Wilson; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Norma (Don) Pennington of La Porte, George Wilson of Plymouth, Ind. and Mike (Cindy) Lower of La Porte.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry Wilson, Jerry Wilson and Roger Lower.
Plans for a graveside service are pending. Cremation has taken place.
