Elizabeth Carol Brown, 85, of La Porte, Ind. passed away peacefully at 10:07 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at her home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1934 in Chicago, Ill. to Walter and Helen (Daker) Guettner.
Elizabeth was a former member of, and taught school at, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and School, Michigan City, Ind. She was a devote Catholic nun for Blue Island Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Ill. Elizabeth loved shopping, bicycling and going to garage sales. She also loved her pets.
On Jan. 18, 1960, in Michigan City, she married Kenneth Brown Sr.
Survivors include her two children, Kenneth Brown Jr. and Katherine Brown, both of La Porte; sister, Laverne Guetther of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Ashley (Billy) Rowe, Elizabeth (Thomas) Grathwohl and Megan Brown Harrison; and three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Madison Rowe, and Ben Grathwohl.
Preceding her in death were her husband on Jan. 10, 2012; her parents; three siblings, William and James Guettner and Bonnie Moscotto; and close friend, Helen Wisthoff.
A private graveside service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
