Betty Jean Tolliver, 93, of Wanatah, Ind. passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at The Willows in Valparaiso, Ind.
She was born Sept. 19, 1926 in Sailor Springs, Ill. to Earl Smith and Laura (Cooper) Smith.
Betty Jean loved to travel and was a member of the VFW La Porte Ladies Auxiliary. She retired after 40 years with American Republic.
Betty Jean was married from 1944 to 1978 to Lindell Vernell Toliver.
Surviving are a daughter, Terri Hanna of Wanatah; brother, Willard “Arkie” (Mary Kay) Smith of Avon, Ind.; three grandchildren, Jay (Tina Marie) Wright, of Wanatah; Amanda Costello of Union Mills, Ind.; Stephen (Jenness) Costello of Valparaiso, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren, Riley Marie Dodd, Lillyan Costello, Charlette Costello, and Vivalynn Costello.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
The family will have a private visitation at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. At 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28 there will be a graveside service at Patton Cemetery with Pastor Andy Wenthold officiating.
