Catalina Gutierrez, 91, of Valparaiso, Ind. passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at her son’s home in Valparaiso.
Catalina was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on Nov. 25, 1928 to Simon and Julia (Hernandez) Garcia.
On Nov. 24, 1945 in Monterrey, Mexico she married Manuel Gutierrez, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Manuel Jesus Gutierrez, Irma Catalina Laboy, Jose Luis Gutierrez, Gloria Mercedes Guerrero, Juan Antonio Gutierrez, Luisa Guadalupe Tecsi, Daniel Gutierrez, Miguel Anton Gutierrez, Sylvia Margarita Musgrave, Alberto Santiago Gutierrez, and Laura Catalina Jakubin; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Guillermo Ricardo Gutierrez; and daughter, Blanca Estella Gutierrez.
Catalina was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Valparaiso, IN. She enjoyed listening to 60’s music, eating good Mexican cuisine, gardening, and dressing fashionably. Most of all, Catalina enjoyed spending time with her husband, sons, daughters, and grandkids.
A private family viewing and cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial may occur at a future date.
