Marissa N. Swistek, 27, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in New Carlisle, Ind. on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.
Marissa was born on Nov. 11, 1992 in Michigan City, Ind.
She was a 2011 graduate of Michigan City High School and was self-employed as a beautician. Marissa’s passion was doing hair and makeup.
Marissa is survived by her children, Aurora A. Brockenshire, 6, of Kingsbury, Ind. and Stella R. Borkowski, 4, of New Carlisle; siblings Ciera McMahon of New Carlisle, Hunter Swistek of Hohenfels, Germany, Riley Swistek of South Bend, Ind., Julian Swistek of Niles, Mich., Shaun Swistek of Niles, Mich., Olivia Swistek of Michigan City, Ashely Kopp of Michigan City, Hailey Johnson of Michigan City, and Kirk Johnson of Peoria, Ill.; parents Cassandra (Derek) Borkowski of New Carlisle and James J. (Barbara) Swistek of Michigan City ; niece Hannah McMahon; maternal aunt Vicki Cain of New Carlisle; paternal grandparents Deborah and Pete Costello of Michigan City, and James and Kathy Swistek of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; as well as a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Marissa was preceded in death by a son, Noah Brockenshire, and a grandparent, Mary Gibson.
A memorial service for Marissa will be held at 3 p.m. EST (2 p.m. La Porte time) on Monday, Feb. 24 at Palmer Funeral Homes, West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, Ind. 46628. Friends may call on the family for an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Donations may be made in Marissa’s honor to any addiction recovery program of the donor’s choice.
