Charles E. Lane, 58, of La Porte, Ind. passed away peacefully at 2:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at Franciscan Health Hospital, Michigan City, Ind.
He was born Aug. 29, 1961 in La Porte to Donald A. and Virginia J. (Hughes) Lane, Sr.
Charles was a current member of the PRCU, La Porte. He enjoyed junking, bowling, playing poker, going to flea markets and watching the Cubs and his favorite TV show, NCIS. Charles especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter. They both would attend wrestling events together. Charles was a strong-willed fighter who was known for his funny and mischievous personality.
Surviving are significant other, Deanna Payne of La Porte; one daughter, Jessica (Michael Ortiz) Lane of La Porte; six siblings, J.C. Lane of La Porte, David (Phyllis) Lane of Kingsford Heights, Ind., Donald A. (Mary) Lane Jr. of Kingsford Heights, Allie (Florence) Lane of La Porte, Donna (Rick) Lambert of Mesa, Ariz., and Virginia (Don) Henry of Oregon; one aunt, Juanita (Bill) Glenn of Kingsford Heights; mother-in-law, Carol Griggs of Tyner, Ind.; best friends, Robin and Danny West, Don and Cindy Clark, Jaclynn and Letty West, and Vanessa Jones, all of La Porte; nieces, Tiffany (Troy) Powless and Christina (Gary) Schlabach both of Michigan City; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Sally Berndt; one aunt, Mary Chapman; one uncle, J.C. Hughes; and one niece, Talina Turner.
Cremation will take place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is in charge of arrangements.
