Lucille Elliott, 1928-2019

Lucille A. Elliott, 90, of Westville, IN, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso, IN.

Lucille was born to Frank and Rose (Pilarski) Yagelski on Sept. 15, 1928, in Porter County.  She was the youngest of 10 children.

At the age of 19, Lucille was hired by Charles Herrold as the first employee of his new establishment, The Blackhawk Grill.  She also worked at Montgomery Ward in Michigan City in the fashion department.

Lucille was a homemaker to her family.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, working in her yard, spending time with her family, reading, and playing bingo. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church in Otis.

She was extremely close to her daughters and proud of their commitments to their families. Her endless joy was the love and the relationships she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On Jan. 14, 1950, in Otis, IN, Lucille married Eldred A. Elliott, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2008. They had a loving marriage for 58 years.

Lucille leaves behind her daughters, Nancy (David) Milcarek of Westville, Gale (Mike) Weaver of Westville, and Janet Boo (Darrin Keehn) of Union Mills, IN; her grandchildren, Jamie (Craig) Creutzburg, Ryan (Tracey) Weaver, Jessica (Brett) Hansen, Justin (Molly) Milcarek, Greg (Jackie) Boo, and Natalie (Nate) Young; her great-grandchildren, Bryce and Nathan Creutzburg, Myleigh and Brydon Weaver, Cooper, Brody, Liam, and Berkley Hansen, Ren and Luke Milcarek, and Leilani, Deon, and Jaylen Boo; a sister, Leona Mazuchowski of Michigan City, IN; sister-in-law, Rosemary Yagelski of Bradenton, FL; in-laws, Elmo Elliott, Robert (Barbara) Elliott, Barney (Karen) Elliott, Barbara (Arnie) Coates and Betty Townsend; son-in-law, Dennis Boo; and dear friend, Thelma Fath.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alex, Joseph, Victor and Matthew; sisters, Marie Rohlof, Harriett Witek, Theresa Herod and Agnes Hannon; and in-laws, Jo Anne Elliott, Charles and Johnnie Elliott, and Paulette Elliott.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte.  A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 101 N. Church St., Otis, IN. Reverend Jerry Schweitzer will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
