William H. Hatchel, 88, of LaPorte, IN, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Huffman, AR, on March 3, 1930, to Henry F. and Agness (Dunn) Hatchel.
Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and American Legion 434. Bill retired from Sullair Corp. He will be remembered and loved by all who knew him.
On Nov. 3, 1990, in LaPorte, he married Helen G. Shannon, who survives.
Also surviving are his stepson, Anthony Shannon of LaPorte; grandchildren, Melissa Dunfee of LaPorte, Cherish Osborne of LaPorte, Joel Shannon of LaPorte and Gabriel Shannon of New Mexico; and great-grandchildren, Delaney Dunfee of LaPorte and Connor Shannon of LaPorte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Francis Hatchel; Stepdaughter, Phyllis Lynn Lucas; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and several other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, with Pastor Southwood officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, following the service.
