Lynne Dingman Kaser Lootens, 76, of Michigan City, IN, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City.

Lynne and her twin brother, Lanny, were born in 1942 in Michigan City to Lowell and Lesley Dingman.

She graduated from Michigan City Elston High School in 1960. Lynne met Robert Kaser, a reporter for the Michigan City News Dispatch, while working at the A&W root beer stand. On Nov. 25, 1961, they married. They enjoyed 43 years together, ending with Bob’s death in 2004.  Lynne and Bob shared many interests and causes in Michigan City. She served as president of the LaPorte County League of Women Voters for several years and received national awards for her conservation efforts to make the south shores of Lake Michigan a safe and enjoyable place. She also served as a member of the Michigan City Redevelopment Commission.

Lynne enjoyed reading, traveling, and (on rare occasions) would bring out her accordion.  She enthusiastically joined Bob’s journey and tribulations of being a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Soon thereafter, she also became a Chicago Bears devotee. From the Super Bowl Shuffle to the Cubs’ 2016 World Series Championship, she was a vocal supporter and sideline coach. She watched the Bears defeat the Packers from her hospital bed on Dec. 16.

Lynne remarried and was blessed to share three joyful years with her husband, Bernard Lootens, who preceded her in death. She and Bernie enjoyed traveling and weathered several Indiana winters in Florida along with their beloved dog, Ziggy.

She is survived by her mother, Lesley Dingman Wooton; her daughters, Tammy Kaser of Indianapolis and Tara (Rick) Foley of Noblesville, IN; and sons, Mark Kaser of Indianapolis and Christopher (Tara) Kaser of Peru IN; grandchildren, Jalynne, Kendra and Eric Foley and Alec and Addison Kaser; brothers, Lanny (Joyce) Dingman of Sarasota, FL, and Lyle (Susan) Dingman of Michigan City; sisters, LaDonna (Bob) Danielson of Pokagon, MI, and LaVerne Kniola of Michigan City; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Dingman; sister, LaVonne Wick; and brother, Loren Dingman.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family c/o 2900 Monroe St., LaPorte, IN 46350, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Messages of condolences may be posted below on WNLP as well as at www.cutlercares.com.
