Dorothy Stevens, 1926-2018

Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, is handling the arrangements for Dorothy Jean Stevens, 91, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, who passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018.  

She was born December 2, 1926, in Michigan City to the late Claude and Leona (Phillips) Rudolph.

On August 19, 1947, Dorothy married Richard G. Stevens, who preceded her on February 12, 1965.

Dorothy was also preceded by two sons, Thomas and Mark Stevens; a brother, Richard Rudolph; and stepfather, Carl Schmuhl.

Dorothy leaves behind two daughters, Sue Stevens of Mishawaka and Katherine Stevens of New Carlisle; four sons, Robert Stevens of Hudson Lake, John (Jill) Stevens of New Carlisle, and Gary and Michael Stevens of St. Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, VFW Ladies Auxiliary-Rolling Prairie, Golden Ages, and Rolling Prairie Community Center, and a former volunteer at St. Anthony Hospital.  She enjoyed playing cards and working in her yard. She was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls and retired after 15 years at Levine’s Department Store in LaPorte.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, LaPorte, where a Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
