Norma Caler, 1935-2016

Norma Jean Caler, 81, of LaPorte, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at the Rosewood Rehabilitation and Care Center in Converse, Texas.

She was born July 3, 1935, in LaPorte to Richard and Alene Marhanka.

Norma was a faithful and active member of Agape Christian Church and volunteered at Handley Elementary School. She enjoyed painting ceramics and drawing; she also loved gardening and collecting angels and dolls through the years.

She is survived by two daughters: Peggy Caler of Grundy, VA, and Robyn (Danny) Armstrong of Live Oak, TX; four sons: Frank (Coreta) Caler of Converse, TX, Mark Caler of Boise, ID, Steve (Telsia) Caler of Collinsville, IL, and Jim (Mary Ann) Caler of Fox Point, WI; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joyce Marhanka of Kingsbury, IN; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nancy Kemper.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Saturday, April 22, from noon to 1 p.m. A life celebration will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
