Mrs. Jessie A. Daniel, 97, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born April 5, 1916, in Dyer County, Tennessee, to Enman and Lola (Wilson) McKnight.
Jessie had worked for Schafer’s Laundry in LaPorte for 20 years and also worked and retired from American Home Foods in LaPorte. Jessie was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
On Dec. 9, 1934, in Caruthersville, MO, she married Clyde Daniel, who preceded her in death April 25, 1997.
Jessie was also preceded in death by her parents and three sons, Thomas, Robert and Gerald Daniel.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Mary) Daniel Sr. of LaPorte; two daughters, Judy (Butch) McPherson and Patricia (Gary) Collings, both of LaPorte; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. A life celebration will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery, LaPorte.
