Norman K. “Norm” Keeler, 91, of Michigan City, IN, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10:14 a.m. at Franciscan St. Anthony Health, Michigan City.
He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Michigan City to John and Mary (Goralski) Keeler.
Norm worked for many years as a delivery person with Voegler Beer Distributing Co., LaPorte. He was a salesperson for Swartzlander Motors and retired as a maintenance supervisor at the LaPorte County Courthouse. He was a veteran of World War II. Norm was a member of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, where he also served for many years as an usher. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Michigan City Council 1951, past president and member of St. Joseph Young Men’s Society and a charter member of American Legion Skwiat Post 451. Norm enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was a Notre Dame football and Chicago Cubs fan.
On July 6, 1946, in Michigan City, he married Lorraine Palmer (celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on the date she now buries him); she survives Michigan City.
Also surviving are nephew, Robert (Patricia) Lozanski of Las Vegas, NV; four nieces, Rosanne (George) Domato of Oak Forest, IL, Debbie (Edward) Mellinger of Evanston, IL, Connie (Mike) Hiss of Lake Forest, CA, and Elaine (Ken) Shoup of Evansville, IN; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Chester Janasiak Sr., and three stepbrothers, Chester Janasiak Jr., Carl Janasiak and Eugene Janasiak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, Michigan City, with Rev. Christopher Stanish officiating. Visitation will be Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the Mass. American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and VFW Post 2536 will conduct full military services Monday at the church. Cremation will follow and private family burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City. Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, is handling arrangements.
